What a way to begin the wrapup of i268 Summer Tour 2006! I look back over a lot of fond memories, great food, great company, and wonderfully energetic miles in the good ole' 15 passenger van. You'll never really know a guy til you drive 1120 miles to North Carolina in his 15 passenger van with Trenton Voth.We have a couple more events to play together and then Trent, Bri, and Tobias will be moving on to other things and we will be auditioning and adding a few new faces to the group. It has been an amazing ride all summer with this team. Those of you who have had an opportunity to see us, interact with us, host us, love on us, serve with us, praise and worship with us, and grow with us have witnessed something that is totally not of this world. This summer tour has been 100% God ordained and God controlled. My prayer is that you are all finding new ways to see and show Jesus and his neverending unconditional love, grace, and mercy in those and to those around you.
I had an amazing experience tonight that really showed me just what God has planted in my heart from this team this summer. We were playing at the Freshmen Orientation session tonight and things didn't start so well. My electric guitar would not work. It was going in and out (mostly out) and it was throwing me and the rest of the group for a loop because I couldn't figure out how to fix it. So we couldn't play what we were planning on playing because my electric guitar wouldn't work. Again, totally and completely God Ordained. So I pick up my acoustic and we play a couple concert type tunes and they just don't sound the same on acoustic guitar as electric, so I am not exactly enjoying myself. Well instead of continuing with concert stuff with the wrong instrumentation, we decided to do a couple worship tunes instead. God knew this and wanted this because he needed something in my heart. We did the first song (Your Great Renown a.k.a. the i268 song) and things were picking up for me emotionally. The next song was Blessed Be Your Name. That is a pretty rockin tune. But guess what? In the middle of rockin that song out, I find myself getting choked up and beginning to cry. I can't put my finger on it, but something in my heart lept. Something in the atmosphere, the music, the people in front of me and on stage with me, and the weekend in general hit me in the face. It was the Holy Spirit. I didn't see it coming, wasn't looking for it, didn't recognize it until afterward, and loved every minute of it.
Allow God to lead you into moments like that everyday. He is that strong wind that you have no control over and that you don't know how it will affect you. Tonight was a night for me to remember (not just because my family saw me and got pictures of me in a tutu) because I met my Jesus there. There wasn't anyone else there but me and my Jesus and He was pleased with me. Go with the peace of Christ.
